Luis Enrique, PSG's head coach, spoke candidly after leading the team to defeat Arsenal and successfully defend their UEFA Champions League title.
Luis Enrique, manager of Paris Saint-Germain, confirmed that his team deserved to win the UEFA Champions League after beating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties (1-1 after 120 minutes) in last night's final.
Enrique said, "I think it was a high-level final against one of the toughest opponents, especially after they scored within the first ten minutes. We found ourselves in a difficult situation, but we managed to come back."
"It was a very close, very tough game. We played against one of Europe's strongest teams on set pieces, but I think we controlled the game. I'm very happy and believe we deserved the title after all the challenges we faced this season. I think we earned this trophy."
"Winning back-to-back titles is very difficult, but now we are extremely happy to have done it for our fans. Now, let's celebrate!"
"In football, you must always be ready. One of our best qualities as a team is resilience. We can overcome all our problems, and today we showed that against a strong Arsenal side. We played until the final minute and demonstrated our team's quality."
