Romano Confirms Liverpool Reaches Agreement to Appoint Iraola as New Head Coach Replacing Klopp

Fabrizio Romano, the well-known journalist, confirms that Liverpool has reached an agreement to appoint Andoni Iraola as the new head coach, replacing Jürgen Klopp.

On 2 June 2026 GMT+7, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Liverpool, the prominent Premier League club, has reached a preliminary agreement to appoint Andoni Iraola as their new manager. He will replace Jürgen Klopp, who was dismissed from the team. The negotiations progressed significantly over the past 48 hours, and the agreement has now been finalized.

Andoni Iraola, the former manager of "The Cherries" Bournemouth, led the team to qualify for the UEFA Europa League for the first time in the club's history by finishing sixth in the league table with 57 points from 38 matches—just three points fewer than his new team, which finished fifth in the league.

Andoni Iraola is expected to manage Liverpool in his first match during a pre-season friendly against Sunderland, known as the "Black Cats," on 26 July at 05:00 Thailand time.
