Liverpool Shocks by Possibly Signing Experienced Champion Player to Strengthen Squad

"The Reds" Liverpool are reportedly considering signing this experienced champion player to bolster their strength for the 2026-27 season.,

"The Reds" Liverpool, the Premier League giant, are reportedly considering signing Kim Min-Jae, the South Korean national team defender from "The Bavarians" Bayern Munich, to Anfield this summer to replace Ibrahima Konaté, who is set to join "Los Blancos" Real Madrid.

Earlier, renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Konaté is close to joining Real Madrid on a free transfer after his contract with Liverpool expires. He is expected to sign a four-year deal, but the move awaits approval from Florentino Pérez, if he is re-elected as Real Madrid's club president, as he will authorize the deal.

Due to this situation, Liverpool must look for a new defender, focusing on experienced players. Kim Min-Jae, aged 29, a Serie A champion once with Napoli and a three-time Bundesliga champion with Bayern Munich, is one of their options. Kim Min-Jae also wants to move clubs to gain more regular playing time.

Kim Min-Jae started only 19 league matches in the 2025-26 Bundesliga season, as he was the second choice behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah in the center-back position.

However, his statistics are impressive. Kim Min-Jae has the second-highest pass accuracy at Bayern Munich (94.9%), behind only Jonathan Tah (96.3%). Moreover, he is a center-back who frequently pushes forward to intercept the ball, ranking second in the league for most ball interceptions.

Given his age and experience, Kim may be the most suitable player to bridge the gap between the aging Virgil van Dijk and the two young talents, Jérémy Doku and Giovanni Leoni, at Anfield.
