Liverpool Unveils New Manager, Vows to Lead Reds to Championship Glory

Liverpool, known as the Reds, officially unveiled their new manager, accompanied by bold declarations of leading the team to fight for the championship.

Andoni Iraola spoke openly for the first time after being officially appointed as the new manager of Liverpool, the Premier League giant, on a two-year contract.

Following a highly disappointing 2025-26 season under manager Arne Slot, who was dismissed, Liverpool acted swiftly by appointing Iraola, who led Bournemouth to qualify for European competition, as his replacement.

Iraola said, “I think Liverpool has given me the chance to coach top-level players, and top-level players give you the opportunity to fight for trophies. Nothing could be more appealing than that.”

“Of course, when you come here, you can't promise everything. But I know where I come from and what is expected. I am ready for this challenge.”

“At the start, when you join any club, I believe you must prove yourself to earn the right to be part of the team.”

“And I want to do this as quickly as possible so that I can celebrate with the fans and fully be part of those celebrations.”

“It’s a great responsibility. I want both myself and the other players to understand and appreciate football and the team.”

“All I can say is that I want the right to be an important part of you all, so that we can enjoy this journey together.”

Regarding his playing style, he said, “I believe I have an advantage because I've been in the Premier League for three years, and many have seen Bournemouth play. Of course, there are things we need to change managing Liverpool, but I don't want us to lose our identity — that is intensity, pressing, aggression, and discipline in our play.”

“Certainly, you have to adapt to the players you have, and that differs at every club. But there are some fundamentals that I believe align well with what Liverpool has been for many years, and I think we can make it work.”
