Manchester United, known as the "Red Devils," has been reported to have made a decision about signing Elliot Anderson after his transfer fee exceeded £100 million.
Fabrizio Romano, a well-known journalist, reported that Manchester United is very keen to acquire Elliot Anderson, the English midfielder from Nottingham Forest, known as the "Tricky Trees." However, they consider a transfer fee over £100 million too expensive and worry it might affect other deals.
Manchester United recently finalized the signing of Brazilian midfielder Ederson from Atalanta for £39 million but is still seeking an additional top-level midfielder. Anderson is a key target, competing against Manchester City, nicknamed the "Sky Blues."
It is understood that Manchester City has already made an official first offer for Anderson, which was immediately rejected. Nottingham Forest demands more than £100 million to release the 23-year-old player, and if he performs well in the World Cup, his value could rise further in July.
After learning about Anderson's transfer fee, Manchester United likely will no longer compete for him. Spending such a large amount would certainly affect other transfer plans they are pursuing.
Manchester United is not planning to overpay for Anderson, while the player himself seems more inclined to move to Manchester City.
The Red Devils will be cautious with their spending this summer, planning to sign four more players besides another midfielder. They may also sign a left winger, a left-back, and a striker.
