Danish Team Doctor Responds After Eriksen Collapses During Match

Denmark's national team doctor confirmed that Christian Eriksen quickly regained consciousness and that the implanted heart stimulator is working normally.

On 8 June 2026, after Christian Eriksen, the Danish national team midfielder, collapsed unconscious on the field at the 65th minute of a friendly match between Denmark and Ukraine the previous night,

the medical team immediately attended to him and rushed Eriksen to the hospital, while the referee promptly stopped the match.

Morten Boesen, the Danish national team doctor, revealed that Eriksen was unconscious only briefly before rapidly regaining consciousness and was able to walk off the field on his own. He also stated that the heart stimulator implanted in the player’s body is functioning properly.

“Christian is in good condition and sends his regards to all the players, assuring that he is okay,” Boesen said.

Eriksen is currently undergoing examinations at the hospital to determine the exact cause of the incident, with the medical team continuing to monitor his condition closely.

Eriksen previously experienced cardiac arrest during the UEFA Euro 2020 match between Denmark and Finland, when he was successfully resuscitated on the field and regained consciousness.
