Roy Keane Reveals He Has Spoken Directly with Bruno After Previous Drama Between Them

Is the issue resolved? Irish football legend Roy Keane revealed he has spoken directly with Bruno Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, after previous drama between them.

On 10 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Roy Keane, the Irish football legend, revealed he spoke directly with Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese midfielder and captain of Manchester United, the renowned Premier League club, following earlier drama involving the two.

Previously, they had a disagreement when Roy Keane felt that Bruno Fernandes was overly focused on chasing assists rather than scoring goals himself. Bruno responded by saying he accepts criticism but dislikes when people lie or distort his words. This referred to his post-match comments where he admitted that in some moments he should have passed the ball instead of shooting but was very happy with his record of 21 assists.

Above all, he said, he is happy with the victory and finishing the season well. However, Roy Keane, seemingly not ready to drop the issue, responded by posting an Instagram story featuring an image of a lion with two lions in shadows alongside a caption implying that too much attention has made 'La' think he is a lion.

Most recently, Roy Keane revealed that he has spoken directly with Bruno Fernandes. He said, "He reached out to me, wanting to talk, and you know what? I called him, and we had a very good conversation. It was really a good talk about everything. It's good because sometimes when we do podcasts or commentate on games, you think you've said something, but it doesn't come across right, and people get upset. He wanted to talk to me, and we spoke like adults."

"He apologized, and we've moved past it (laughs). I have forgiven him. I think it's important that I talked with him because there were many stories and reports, and clearly, he is an important player for Manchester United. I am a former Manchester United player, and I believe proper communication and conversation like this is important. I enjoyed this talk very much and hope he did too. It was a good conversation about everything. Yes, I feel better after that."
