On 13 July 2026, Xabi Alonso discussed the futures of three players during his first press conference since being unveiled as Chelsea's new head coach ahead of the 2026-27 English Premier League season.
Enzo Fernandez, the Argentine midfielder and 2022 World Cup winner who is currently competing in the 2026 World Cup, has been linked with a summer transfer, reportedly attracting continuous interest from Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho, the Argentine winger known for disciplinary issues, and Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson have also been rumored to be potentially leaving the club this summer.
Recently, Xabi Alonso spoke about the futures of all three players at Chelsea, beginning with Enzo Fernandez: "Yes, we have talked. But you can guess that our conversation was private. Still, yes, we have talked."
When asked if he wants Enzo Fernandez to stay at Chelsea, Alonso replied simply, "Yes."
The Chelsea coach then addressed Alejandro Garnacho's future: "We have spoken with the sporting director, and there is interest from another club. So, we will see how it develops. I hope it ends well for all parties."
Regarding Nicolas Jackson's future, Alonso revealed, "He will be joining the preseason tour we are about to start in Asia. I look forward to working with Nico at that time."
