Liverpool has made progress in signing 'Salah's replacement' with a transfer fee of £42.6 million.
On 22 July 2026 GMT+7, Sky Sports, a leading sports media outlet, reported that Liverpool, a prominent Premier League club, has progressed in acquiring Magnas Akliouch, the French national team winger for the 2026 World Cup, as a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Sources say Liverpool has contacted Monaco, Akliouch's current club, to sign the 24-year-old winger. Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 giant, is also interested and has previously made several offers for the player.
However, PSG was turned down. Their latest offer was around €40 million (£34 million), but Monaco considers this unsatisfactory and demands about €50 million (£42.6 million).
Magnas Akliouch can play both as a right winger and an attacking midfielder. Last season, he appeared in 31 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 6 goals and providing 6 assists.
Liverpool's new manager, Andoni Iraola, has confirmed the need to reinforce the wing position further, even though they have already signed Victor Muñoz, the Spanish national and 2026 World Cup champion, from Osasuna.
Previously, Liverpool tried to sign Yann Diomandé, the Ivorian national team winger, but RB Leipzig demanded a high fee of £112 million, while the Reds were only prepared to offer £86 million.
