Liverpool Eyes a Sharp Winger to Strengthen Flanks

Liverpool is excited at the prospect of signing a "sharp winger" to bolster their flanks.

Fabrizio Romano, the renowned Italian journalist, reported that Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid have submitted a combined 100 million euro offer to acquire Yan Diomande, the talented Ivorian winger of RB Leipzig. However, the German Bundesliga club promptly rejected the offer, reviving Liverpool's hopes in the deal.

The summer transfer market has heated up again following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup, with Diomande emerging as one of the most sought-after players. Both Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest in the 19-year-old and have made offers, all of which have so far been declined.

Most recently, Real Madrid, also seeking a new winger, offered a total of 100 million euros to RB Leipzig to secure Diomande's move to Santiago Bernabeu. As expected, Leipzig swiftly rejected the proposal, having valued Diomande at 130 million euros.

Although many believed Liverpool's chance to sign Diomande was over, the club remains interested since they have yet to sign a replacement for Mohamed Salah. Despite rumors linking them to several wingers, including PSG's Bradley Barcola, Liverpool's pursuit of Diomande continues.

If PSG fails to sign Diomande, they may not release Barcola, making Diomande's future a renewed focus as observers await his ultimate destination.

Liverpool needs to secure an attacking signing before the summer transfer window closes; otherwise, they will start the new season with only four attacking players.

Therefore, Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola might be forced to consider alternatives such as Yan Couba Mintah from Brighton, though it remains to be seen if Mintah can regain his form after a decline in the 2025-26 season.
