Emiliano Martínez, the Argentine goalkeeper, was unfortunate to get his vehicle stuck in the mud but was lucky to be rescued by locals before giving them Argentina shirts as a token of thanks.
On 29 July 2026, Emiliano Martínez, the Argentine goalkeeper for Premier League club Aston Villa, managed by Spanish coach Unai Emery, was unlucky to have his vehicle stuck in the mud. Fortunately, locals came to his aid in time, and he later gave them Argentina national team shirts to express his gratitude.
The incident occurred when Martínez's pickup truck got stuck in the mud amid heavy rain in Sierra de los Padres, a rural area in Argentina. Two local residents took more than three hours to help free the vehicle. As a gesture of thanks, the World Cup 2022 winner and 2026 runner-up goalkeeper gave each of them an Argentina national team jersey.
The reason Emiliano Martínez, aged 33 and goalkeeper for Aston Villa, traveled to Sierra de los Padres was that he had recently purchased land in that area.
