India is preparing for a warm-up match against Brazil that overlaps with the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 competition this October.
On 31 July 2026, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) officially confirmed that the Indian men's national football team will face Brazil in a warm-up match during the FIFA international match calendar on 3 October 2026 in Kolkata, India.
This will mark the first-ever meeting between the two nations. Brazil, a five-time World Cup champion and currently ranked 5th in the world, will be the highest-ranked opponent India has ever faced since FIFA began official world rankings in 1992.
However, India is also participating in the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, scheduled from 21 September to 6 October, which overlaps with the warm-up match period.
If India advances to the ASEAN Cup final, the team may face the challenge of traveling back and forth within just a few days—a situation rarely undertaken by any national team.
