Arteta has responded clearly regarding Arsenal’s rumored pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius.
On 3 August 2026 GMT+7, Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager and the 2025-26 Premier League champions, gave his latest interview about summer transfer market reinforcements.
Arsenal has so far signed three players: Illan Meslier, the second-choice goalkeeper who joined on a free transfer; Christos Solis, a winger from Club Brugge for £34 million; and exercised a purchase option for Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen for £34.5 million.
However, Arsenal has been continuously linked with two Brazilian stars, led by Bruno Guimaraes, Newcastle United’s captain midfielder, with some reports claiming his medical is scheduled for Monday.
Amid rumors that Newcastle accepted an £80 million offer from the "Gunners" for Bruno Guimaraes, sources at Tyneside have confirmed no direct contact has occurred between the two clubs regarding the 28-year-old player.
Additionally, Arsenal is considering signing Vinicius Junior, the superstar forward from Real Madrid, who is currently negotiating a contract with the Spanish La Liga giants.
Mikel Arteta spoke about Arsenal’s latest progress in strengthening the squad ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League season, saying, "We are very eager to improve and develop the team, and that is clear."
"Certainly, we expect some movements in the next few weeks because we want to elevate the team just like our competitors."
"You can clearly see the picture, both in the transfer market and among our rivals and what we are doing. We will not stand still, and we are strongly committed to achieving what we want to do."
