Rodri has chosen a new team after rumors linked him to Barcelona and Real Madrid.
French media outlet RMC Sport reported that Rodri, the Spanish midfielder of Premier League giants Manchester City, has verbally agreed to join Barcelona, with the two clubs yet to finalize the transfer fee.
Previously, Real Madrid had made significant efforts to sign Rodri but failed to agree on a transfer fee with Manchester City. This breakdown opened the opportunity for Barcelona, and recent reports indicate Rodri has given his preliminary acceptance to join Barcelona.
Barcelona coach Hans-Dieter Flick has already contacted Rodri directly, and the club is now preparing to begin negotiations with Manchester City as the next step.
Manchester City aims to receive 80 million euros for Rodri, while Barcelona plans to submit an initial offer in the range of 60 to 70 million euros.
Rodri underwent minor back surgery last week and is currently resting in Ibiza after helping Spain win the World Cup last month.
The 30-year-old midfielder played only 17 Premier League matches last season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in September 2024. He was awarded the Golden Ball at the 2026 World Cup as the tournament's best player.
