Amorim has made a decision following AC Milan's heavy defeat to Chelsea.
"Amorim" declared that he may need to cut some "Milan players" from the squad after losing to "Chelsea" and failing to win during the preseason.
Ruben Amorim, coach of the "Rossoneri" AC Milan, spoke frankly without hesitation that he might have to remove some players from the team after a 0-3 loss to "The Blues" Chelsea in their latest friendly match held in Indonesia.
Under Ruben Amorim's management, AC Milan has yet to win any preseason games for the 2026-27 season, starting with a 2-2 draw against Celtic, a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan, and most recently a 0-3 loss to Chelsea. The fact that Milan's defense was breached is worrying for fans, as Amorim has been trying to use his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, but results have been poor.
Milan will begin the Italian top-flight season by facing Torino on Sunday, 23 August. Before that, Amorim will lead the team in their final friendly against his former club, Manchester United, in Poland next Saturday. As the new season approaches, Amorim admits there may be changes to the squad.
“We will make decisions regarding our players. The past two weeks of training have been very positive, but we have many players, so we need to select some. We will make decisions next week.”
Regarding the overall loss to Chelsea, Amorim said, “We knew we would face difficulties in this match, but we wanted to challenge the players.”
“We are here to prepare for winning our first official game of the season and to build confidence among our players.”
“We also have many young players in the squad, so this is a process to give them playing time and prepare them to win the first official match of the season.”
