No excuses! Carrick admits that Man United deserved to lose to AC Milan.
Michael Carrick, manager of the "Red Devils" Manchester United, admitted his team deserved to lose 2-4 to AC Milan, the "Rossoneri," in their latest friendly match. He said the team truly did not play well and had no excuses whatsoever.
In the match, Manchester United took the lead twice but ultimately lost to AC Milan, coached by former Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim. However, this was only United's second loss in six preseason games.
Carrick said, "Overall, the preseason has gone well. I think there are many positive things we have gained from it."
"We are disappointed with today. We really did not play well. We need to learn from it and improve. Some players played for the first time. Nevertheless, there are various reasons but no excuses. We simply did not play well today."
Carrick also spoke about Marcus Rashford, who made his first appearance for Manchester United since December 2024, saying, "Players will develop through playing. We have a good squad, so decisions will be made about the opening match."
Manchester United will begin the 2026-27 English Premier League season on 22 August, starting with an away game against Hull City, a newly promoted team.
