On 26 Aug 2026 GMT+7, from a fellow favorite, Declan Rice, the key English midfielder for Arsenal, the well-known Premier League club, spoke about Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese captain and midfielder for Manchester United, after he claimed the PFA Player of the Year award for 2025-26. He is the first player from the club in 16 years to win this award since Wayne Rooney in the 2009-10 season.
Declan Rice said about Bruno Fernandes, "I really want to congratulate him. Actually, he's a friend of mine. Maybe not on the pitch, but definitely off it. Winning this award is a huge challenge because there are many great players, but Bruno Fernandes did what he deserved. Especially breaking the Premier League's all-time assist record—that's incredible. Even during such a tough season for Manchester United, it makes it all the more impressive. I'm happy for him."
Bruno Fernandes scored 9 goals and provided 21 assists, setting the Premier League's single-season assist record, breaking the previous record of 20 assists held jointly by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne. With this contribution, Manchester United finished third and secured a UEFA Champions League spot.
