Wayne Rooney talks about Manchester United's return to the UEFA Champions League and points out the issues making Michael Carrick think.
On 9 Sep 2026 GMT+7, Wayne Rooney, legendary England and Manchester United striker, spoke about his former club following their return to the UEFA Champions League, highlighting points that have caused the team's coach Michael Carrick to reflect.
Wayne Rooney commented on Manchester United's comeback in the UEFA Champions League, saying, "I think it's great to see Manchester United back in the UEFA Champions League, and Thursday's game is one they should aim to win."
"But the most important game is the Manchester derby this weekend. If Manchester United win that match, it would immediately mark a strong start to the season. Conversely, if they fail, it would be seen as a poor beginning. Therefore, I see next weekend's game as carrying a lot of pressure."
