Conte Responds for the First Time Following Reports of Interest in Managing Man United if Carrick Is Dismissed

Conte responds personally for the first time after rumors of interest in managing Manchester United if Carrick is dismissed.

On 23 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Italian coach Antonio Conte issued a statement via his personal Instagram story to clarify reports linking him to Manchester United, the prominent English Premier League club reportedly seeking a new manager to replace Michael Carrick.

The former Chelsea and Spurs manager stated, "Following recent media reports both in Italy and abroad, I believe it is necessary to clearly clarify my position."

"My name has been linked to several clubs, but at present, there are no advanced negotiations. After a wonderful and successful period managing Napoli, I will take the necessary time to consider when and how to return to coaching, a decision that will be carefully thought through and made only when the circumstances are appropriate."

"I have read reports claiming that I have made demands concerning salary or complete control over team management with the clubs mentioned, as well as concerns about what has been described as my 'tough personality.'"

"These reports are entirely unfounded since there is currently no factual basis to assess such claims."

"If a clear opportunity arises, that will be the appropriate time to discuss terms with the respective club, considering the needs of both parties as well as my unique qualifications and approach as a manager."

"Until then, any assumptions about my demands or my career future remain mere speculation and cannot be regarded as fact."
