Chelsea quietly feels the sting as Andoni Iraola delivers sharp remarks before leading Liverpool into the Carabao Cup Round 4 showdown.
On 28 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Andoni Iraola, Liverpool's coach, spoke ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup 2026-27 Round 4 match against Premier League rivals Chelsea, scheduled for 03:00 GMT+7.
Iraola was asked whether he feels pressure to win a trophy in his first season managing the Reds. The Spanish coach replied, "I think every competition is an opportunity (to win a trophy), especially when you are Liverpool’s coach. You have to see it that way."
"I want to win this match to advance deeper into the competition, but I know we must play very well and overcome a very strong team."
One notable comment from Iraola touched on Chelsea’s situation, as they are not participating in any European tournaments this season: "Another point is that this team isn’t playing in European football. So for them, this competition is also very important. Therefore, it certainly won’t be easy."
