Yamal's uncle reacts strongly after his "beloved nephew" misses out on the 2026 Ballon d'Or.
Abdul Abdellaoui, uncle of Lamine Yamal, the Spanish international winger for Barcelona, criticized the decision to award the 2026 Ballon d'Or to Harry Kane, the English striker for Bayern Munich, claiming that Yamal is the best player in the world and more popular among fans than Kane.
Abdellaoui said, "Honestly, it's very sad. I feel really bad. My nephew is amazing. He is the best player in the world. Everyone knows that. If you love football, you have to watch Lamine Yamal, not Harry Kane."
"Harry Kane is an excellent goal scorer, but Yamal is the best player who stands out on the field. He's unlucky, but he still has a chance next year."
When asked why he thought Yamal did not receive the award, Abdellaoui replied, "Because Yamal is still young. They usually say he still has time. He's 19 years old, and that's why they didn't give him the award. But Harry has less time left in football, so they said, 'Alright, let's give the award to him.'"
"Yamal had an incredible season. He scored goals that no one else did, made assists—everything you could want. But Yamal's sadness will pass soon, and he will recover."
