Shock as Top Club Interested in Bringing Trent Back to Premier League After Losing Starting Spot at Real Madrid

Shock as "top club" shows interest in bringing "Trent" back to the Premier League after losing starting spot at Real Madrid.

On 30 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Football Insider, a well-known football media outlet, reported that Chelsea is interested in bringing Trent Alexander-Arnold, the former Liverpool right-back, back from Spain's La Liga to play again in the English Premier League.

Since José Mourinho took over as Real Madrid's head coach, Trent Alexander-Arnold has become a fringe option at Santiago Bernabéu, sparking speculation about his long-term future with the "Los Blancos."

This season, Trent Alexander-Arnold has started only 4 out of 13 matches in all competitions for Real Madrid, leading to his dissatisfaction with limited playing time and consideration of a return to England, with several top clubs monitoring his situation.

Mick Brown, former chief scout of Manchester United, told Football Insider that Chelsea is ready to offer Trent Alexander-Arnold an opportunity to leave Real Madrid if the player is open to a transfer.

Although it remains unclear whether Chelsea will sign Trent in the January transfer window or next summer, if his situation at Real Madrid does not improve, he may decide to move on.

Liverpool is also considered a possible destination, but given the manner of his departure in 2025, both parties remain doubtful whether a quick reunion would be beneficial.

Currently, Chelsea has emerged as one of the clubs interested in acquiring the England international, remaining committed to strengthening Xabi Alonso's squad by signing renowned players.

Mick Brown revealed, "One name I've heard that might move to Chelsea is Trent Alexander-Arnold. Honestly, this surprised me quite a bit, but his status at Real Madrid has declined to being the second or third choice."

"It seems Mourinho doesn't see him as the right option at right-back, and it's not just at club level—he's also nearly lost chances to play for England."

"However, Chelsea often looks for opportunities to sign big-name players; that's their usual approach. So they will likely watch closely to see if Trent becomes someone they can bring in."

"There are also rumors about a possible return to Liverpool, but I don't think that's likely because his departure wasn't smooth, and no one was very happy with how things went."

"Neither the club nor the player would want a repeat of that situation. Therefore, Chelsea might be a more probable destination, and if they make a concrete offer, he would likely be quite interested."
