Bruno Fernandes has shared heartfelt words about Cristiano Ronaldo following his official retirement from the Portugal national team.
On 6 Nov 2026 GMT+7, Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese midfielder for Manchester United, the renowned Premier League club, revealed touching words for fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo, who officially announced his farewell to the Portuguese national team just yesterday evening Thailand time.
Cristiano Ronaldo ended his 23-year international career spanning 2003 to 2026, leaving behind remarkable achievements including being the most-capped male international player with 234 appearances, the all-time top male international scorer with 146 goals, scoring in six consecutive World Cup final tournaments, and holding the record for the top scorer in the European Championship finals with 14 goals.
He also led "Seleção das Quinas"—the Portuguese national team—to their first-ever European Championship title at Euro 2016, as well as UEFA Nations League championships in 2018–19 and 2024–25.
Recently, Bruno Fernandes said, "Thank you for the inspiration. It has been a great honor to share such monumental moments in our national team alongside you. This is not just a chapter in a book—it is history that you have created. You are a global icon, not only for Portugal. Portugal is in your heart, and you will remain in the hearts of people worldwide. This page of history may turn, but there is still history we will write together."
