On 18 May 2026, J Worapat Arunpakdee and Bubble Yingrak Raksuwan, hosts of the "Clear Rim Sen" program on Thairath Sport, revealed the reason why Nicholas Mickelson, the Thai-Norwegian right back, was not named in the "War Elephants" squad for the June FIFA international friendlies against Kuwait and China.

Nicholas Mickelson recently celebrated success with his German club Elversberg after they defeated Preußen Münster 3-0 at home, finishing the season as runners-up in the 2. Bundesliga and earning automatic promotion to the top-tier Bundesliga for the first time in the club's history.

However, Nicholas Mickelson still needs to resolve his future with Elversberg. J Worapat and Bubble Yingrak agreed on the "Clear Rim Sen" program on Thairath Sport that talks are ongoing with the club. There remains a possibility of either a transfer to a new team or staying with Elversberg to compete in the Bundesliga.

Nicholas Mickelson's contract with Elversberg runs until 30 June 2027 (according to Transfermarkt). After his contract with Odense in the Danish league ended, he joined Elversberg on a free transfer in July 2025, playing 26 matches across all competitions, totaling 1,064 minutes, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists.
