Sending support to Harry Kane as he opens up emotionally about four people after winning the 2026 Ballon d'Or.
On 27 October 2026, Harry Kane, the top striker of the England national team, spoke emotionally on stage at the London Palladium in London, England, after winning the 2026 Ballon d'Or as the best player of the year.
The 33-year-old forward from Bayern Munich defeated two rivals: Kylian Mbappé, the French national team striker from Real Madrid who finished second, and Lamine Yamal, the Barcelona winger who won the 2026 World Cup with Spain, who placed third.
Harry Kane took this opportunity to send support to Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany, who collapsed at the training ground on 23 October due to fatigue from a viral infection and heavy workload.
The England captain also thanked his current club Bayern Munich, the England national team, and Tottenham Hotspur, his former club that developed him from youth level to professional football in 2009.
Harry Kane said, "I’m almost speechless. Receiving this award here in London is truly special. It feels like a good omen for me."
"To Vinny (Vincent Kompany)... I know you may be at home or still recovering in the hospital. I send you my best wishes for a speedy recovery and hope this award can give you some strength."
"Since working with you, I’ve felt myself improve a lot both as a player and as a leader. I’m very happy to bring this trophy back to Bayern Munich."
"To all my England teammates, the past year has been special for us. Although not perfect, we shared many great moments together. It’s truly an honor to wear the captain’s armband and lead the team."
"And I want to thank Tottenham Hotspur. Without Spurs, I wouldn’t have reached this point today. You gave me the chance to chase my dream. Every moment, happy or sad, along that journey has shaped me and led me to this moment of success."
