Cambodian League Team Throws Teddy Bears onto Field to Aid Children Fleeing Thailand-Cambodia Border Clashes (Video)

The ASEAN Real Betis? A Cambodian league team invited fans to throw teddy bears onto the field to help Cambodian children fleeing clashes between Thailand and Cambodia.

On 27 Dec 2025 GMT+7, if you recognize images of fans collectively throwing teddy bears onto the field, don’t be alarmed—it’s not Spain’s La Liga but Phnom Penh’s Olympic Stadium. Fans of ASEAN Real Betis teamed up with supporters of Banteay Meanchey FC and Svay Rieng to hold an event tossing teddy bears onto the pitch to provide aid to Cambodian children displaced by fighting near the Thailand-Cambodia border.

The sight of fans throwing teddy bears from the stands onto the field recalls Real Betis’ well-known tradition called Lluvia de peluches, their annual teddy bear event where fans throw toys to collect donations for underprivileged children ahead of Christmas.

Most recently, Real Betis held this event during their match against Getafe on 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7, gathering a record 25,092 teddy bears—the highest since starting the tradition in 2018.
