Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, sharply criticized his players after being knocked out of the FA Cup third round by a Division 6 team.
Oliver Glasner, manager of the "Eagles" Crystal Palace, harshly rebuked his players for playing poor-quality football, failing even to dribble past opponents, after a narrow 1-2 defeat to Macclesfield, a Division 6 team, resulting in a shocking exit from the FA Cup third round.
Paul Dawson and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts, two Macclesfield players, were responsible for Crystal Palace suffering a historic defeat to a team ranked 117 places below them.
Glasner said, "We congratulate Macclesfield for securing the victory in this game."
"Today, we showed no quality at all, and I didn't see any of our players able to dribble past an opponent. Then we conceded goals from set pieces and mistakes in heading."
"If you cannot create clear chances, that is a lack of quality, which we demonstrated in this match. We deserved to lose."
"To be honest, I have no explanation for what I saw today. We could make excuses, but really, for a game like this, you don't even need tactics or a manager."
"So I think if you show your ability and take pride in yourself, you would definitely perform very differently."
