The Sports Authority of Thailand (TAT) is ready to hold the National Sports Day 2025 event, presenting awards to honor sports figures on 9 February.
TAT is prepared to host the 2025 National Sports Day, which has been moved from 16 December 2025 to 9 February 2026 at Indoor Stadium Huamark. The event will review performances of SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games athletes to announce honors and present prestigious awards to outstanding athletes and sports personnel nationwide.
Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (TAT), revealed that Thailand’s National Sports Day falls on 16 December each year to commemorate the sporting excellence of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, who won the gold medal in the OK class sailing competition at the 4th SEAP Games (now the SEA Games) on 16 December 1967. The Cabinet resolved in 1986 to designate 16 December as National Sports Day.
TAT has continuously organized National Sports Day events for over 40 years. Since December 2025 to January 2026 coincides with Thailand hosting the 33rd SEA Games and the 13th ASEAN Para Games, the 2025 National Sports Day will be held on 9 February 2026 at Indoor Stadium Huamark. This event will honor athletes, coaches, sports associations, and sports personnel who have achieved outstanding results and brought prestige to the country, inspiring youth and citizens nationwide.
The Governor added that the selection criteria for the 2025 awards are based on outstanding and recognized competition results from 17 December 2024 to 15 December 2025, including the 33rd SEA Games held from 9-20 December 2025 and the 13th ASEAN Para Games from 20-26 January 2026. The competitions are ranked by importance as world, Asian, ASEAN, and university levels respectively. For outstanding professional boxing athletes, results from 11 December 2024 to 10 December 2025 are considered.
"The National Sports Day working groups have fully prepared. After the 13th ASEAN Para Games conclude, the athletes’ performances will be used as criteria for the award selections," the TAT Governor said.
