Forest Loses Away to Braga but Still Hopes to Qualify in Final Europa League Match

"The Forest" Nottingham Forest was defeated away by Braga but still remains in contention to automatically qualify for the Europa League knockout stage.

In the 2025-26 Europa League group stage match on Thursday, 22 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Braga from Portugal hosted "The Forest" Nottingham Forest from England in a notable fixture.

The first half ended 0-0. Then, in the 53rd minute of the second half, Forest was awarded a penalty after James McAtee was fouled by Gabriel Martinez. However, Morgan Gibbs-White's penalty was saved by Braga's goalkeeper, missing a golden opportunity to take the lead.

Shortly after, in the 54th minute, Braga took the lead 1-0. Ricardo Horta advanced down the right and crossed the ball into the center, which deflected off Forest player Ryan Yates into his own net.
