An English Premier League club announced the dismissal of their manager following poor results and a recent defeat.
"The Foxes," Leicester City, a club in England's Championship League, have officially dismissed Martí Cifuentes from his managerial position after just six months, with the team sitting 14th in the league, six points behind the playoff places.
Under Cifuentes' management, they won only one match between September and October and have failed to win in their last three games. Their 1-2 loss to relegation-threatened Oxford United last Saturday was the final straw for the Spanish coach.
“This was a difficult decision and not one I made lightly. However, I believe this is the right step at this time to improve our performance and results,” said Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, Leicester's club chairman, in a statement.
Meanwhile, first-team coach Andy King will take over as interim manager while the club proceeds with appointing a new head coach.
