On 5 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Darwin Núñez, the Uruguayan striker, is close to joining the prominent Turkish league club Fenerbahçe after moving from "The Reds" Liverpool, a renowned Premier League club, to Al Hilal in the Saudi Arabian league, where he has been unhappy.
Darwin Núñez transferred from the top club at Anfield, having scored 40 goals and provided 26 assists in 143 appearances, to join Al Hilal for a fee of 53 million euros, approximately 1.978 billion baht, on a three-year contract. However, shortly after the move, reports emerged that he was unhappy at his current club due to the less intense level of competition compared to Europe.
Latest reports indicate that Fenerbahçe is interested in acquiring Darwin Núñez to make an impact again on the European stage. Preliminary talks have already taken place. The club faces budget constraints that may not meet the current club's asking price, but the deal still has a chance to happen.
