Persib Bandung Forward Devastated: Red Card Changed the Game Leading to ACL 2 Elimination Despite Win Over Ratchaburi

Andrew Jung, forward for Persib Bandung, was deeply disappointed, pointing out that a red card changed the game and led to their ACL 2 elimination despite his goal that defeated Ratchaburi.

On 19 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Andrew Jung, Persib Bandung’s forward, expressed strong regret after the team’s elimination from the AFC Champions League 2 (ACL 2), repeatedly emphasizing the challenge of playing 11 against 10 players.

The French striker scored the winning goal for Persib in their 1-0 victory over Ratchaburi FC in the second leg of the round of 16, but this was insufficient to overturn the situation, as they had lost 0-3 away in the first leg.

Andrew Jung said their plan to overturn the second leg was nearly successful, but referee Majed Mohammed Al-Shamrani issued a red card to Yuliem Barros late in the first half after a tackle on Jonathan Kemdee, causing an uproar on the field.

“In the first half, we played well and scored, but when it became 11 versus 10, winning with the needed score became much more difficult. That’s all.”

“We all knew that if we had scored another goal in the first half, it would have been very tough for Ratchaburi because playing here isn’t easy. But as I said, playing 11 against 10 is never easy.”

“We tried our best. I think we gave everything we had, but it wasn’t enough. Losing a player made everything harder, but I believe we gave it our all.”

Additionally, Jung reflected on the heavy defeat to Ratchaburi in the first leg, which was a key factor making the second leg difficult from the start. “In summary, we’re out, but as the coach said, we lost in the first game, not just today.”
