Oxford United released a statement saying Amelia Applin, a female youth player, lost consciousness at the club’s training center in Horspath during a match against Fulham.
The club’s statement said, "With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Amelia Applin, a 15-year-old female footballer from the academy."
"Amelia lost consciousness during the women’s academy match against Fulham at the club’s training center in Horspath yesterday afternoon. Everyone at Oxford United extends deepest sympathies to Amelia’s family, friends, teammates, and coaches."
