The reason has been revealed why Manuel Ugarte, Uruguay national team midfielder, was shown two yellow cards but avoided a red card in the away match that ended in a draw with England last night.
The aftermath of last Friday's international friendly saw the "Three Lions," England, hosting Uruguay at Wembley Stadium where the match ended 1-1. The player who became a focal point in this game was Manuel Ugarte, Uruguay midfielder from Manchester United.
Ugarte received his first yellow card in the 71st minute for fouling England forward Cole Palmer. Then, in the 81st minute, Ugarte was shown a second yellow card after protesting to referee Sven Jablonski. However, Jablonski did not show Ugarte a red card, allowing him to remain on the field, which caused confusion throughout the stadium. Eventually, Ugarte was substituted by Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa.
Recently, match reports have been disclosed indicating that Ugarte received only one yellow card for protesting the referee in the 81st minute. The first yellow card actually belonged to José María Giménez, Ugarte's Uruguay teammate, who argued with the referee after Ugarte committed the foul on Cole Palmer.
