Robinho Jr. has demanded that Neymar issue a public apology for physically assaulting him by slapping.
On 6 May 2026, after news emerged that Brazilian superstar Neymar had an argument with Robinho Jr., son of Robinho, at Santos' training camp which escalated to Neymar slapping him, ESPN reported that sources want Neymar to publicly apologize for the incident.
A source told ESPN Brasil that Santos club was surprised that Robinho Jr. and his representatives chose this approach, given that the two parties had already discussed and resolved the matter. Robinho Jr. has accused Neymar of three offenses and wants to negotiate with Santos to terminate his contract, arguing that the club lacks minimum safety standards and cannot guarantee his security.
The source also stated that another reason Robinho Jr. wants to leave the team is that the demand for Neymar to apologize is an attempt to legally cancel the contract.
However, Robinho Jr.'s representatives denied this, insisting it was merely a dispute.
