Klopp Vows to Resign as Germany National Team Coach if One Thing Happens

Klopp vows to resign as Germany national team coach if one thing happens.

“Klopp” declares he is ready to resign as “Germany national team coach” if criticism crosses into his family. He said, “If you have something to say, come talk to me directly; I’ll come myself.”

Following the German Football Association’s (DFB) official confirmation, 59-year-old Jürgen Klopp has been appointed as the new head coach of the Germany national team, signing a four-year contract through 2030. Klopp takes over from Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned after Germany was eliminated in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup.

At a press conference, Klopp confirmed he will give his all to this role but is also ready to resign if criticism crosses into family matters. He emphasized that if performance is poor, people can come talk directly to him face-to-face; he is willing to listen and reflect on himself.

Klopp said, “I’m not doing this job for myself. I’m doing it for you. I accepted this role even though I saw how you treated Julian Nagelsmann. I accepted it even though I saw how you treated Thomas Tuchel.”

“If you touch my family, I will leave. If you think I’m terrible, come talk to me directly face-to-face, and I will resign immediately without any severance pay.”

“I know there are other countries where national team coaches are treated worse. I love this job, but I am always ready to resign if necessary.”
