Neawin has revealed the reason Buriram, with only 10 players, did not lose to Johor in the opening match of the ACL Elite 2026-27.
On 15 September 2026, the 'Uncle Neawin' Facebook page shared the latest comments from Neawin Chidchob, president of Buriram United, following the Thai League 1 champions' successful away draw against Johor Darul Ta'zim, the Malaysian league champions and old rivals, in the first group stage match of the AFC Champions League Elite 2026-27 Eastern Zone.
In this match, Buriram United fell behind but equalized to 1-1. In the second half, in the 57th minute, they were reduced to 10 men after captain Kenneth Dougall received a second yellow card and was sent off. Despite this, they held on to the draw, with goalkeeper Neil Etheridge saving a penalty from Johor's striker Bergson da Silva in the 87th minute.
This result meant the 'Thunder Castle' have never lost when visiting Johor Darul Ta'zim. Recently, Neawin Chidchob explained the reason Buriram managed to secure a point, saying, "Thanks to all the cheers. We got the point today because of the fans' support. Thank you to everyone who fought together. Buriram United #FightWithAllOurHearts."
Next, Buriram United will visit Chonburi FC in Thai League 1 on Sunday, 20 September.
