Portugal has punished Ronaldo after he left the national team camp, revealing the date of his return to the team.
On 20 October 2026, Cristiano Ronaldo was suspended for 30 days and fined 255 euros (approximately 9,606.11 baht) by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) after leaving the national team camp last month.
The 41-year-old captain decided to withdraw from Portugal's UEFA Nations League squad in September after not playing in the match against Norway and later learning he would not start in the game against Denmark on 1 October.
Ronaldo then issued a statement saying he withdrew because Portugal's coach, Jorge Jesus, "broke his word" twice, which he saw as completely destroying their trust.
The suspension for the Al-Nassr forward is retroactive from the Denmark match date, meaning he has already served 19 days of the ban and will not miss any future Portugal matches.
Portugal is scheduled to face Denmark again in the UEFA Nations League on 14 November, before traveling to Wales on 17 November.
The disciplinary committee of the Portuguese Football Federation stated that they considered Ronaldo's remorse expressed in his statement, as well as his contributions to football and his distinguished career as an athlete.
They also noted that the forward submitted his personal history, including awards and achievements, to support his case during the disciplinary proceedings.
