Tragic news: Jesus De Miguel, Tenerife's striker, has died at age 30 after a severe collision on the field with the opposing team's goalkeeper.
On 3 November 2026, Spanish Segunda Division club Tenerife faced heartbreaking news after confirming the death of 30-year-old forward Jesus De Miguel. He suffered serious injuries from a clash with FC Andorra's goalkeeper, was hospitalized, admitted to intensive care, and later died.
The incident occurred during a match between Tenerife and FC Andorra last Sunday. De Miguel challenged goalkeeper Jesus Ovono for a 50-50 ball, suffering a heavy impact to the head and chest that left him unconscious and motionless on the pitch.
The event shocked players from both teams deeply, with many in tears, and the match was subsequently abandoned.
Reports state that De Miguel experienced cardiac arrest while being transported by ambulance to the hospital. Medical staff successfully revived his heartbeat and admitted him to intensive care for close monitoring.
On Monday afternoon, Tenerife released a statement saying the player remained in intensive care and was in stable condition despite severe injuries.
However, the situation deteriorated at 04:00 on Tuesday when the club announced his neurological condition worsened, and four hours later confirmed the tragic news of his passing.
