Do you agree? Ian Wright's critique of Manchester United after they considered selling Bruno Fernandes for a large sum last summer.
On 19 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Ian Wright, the legendary striker, criticized the Premier League giants Manchester United after they considered selling Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese team captain, in exchange for a substantial amount last summer.
Looking back to last summer, Bruno Fernandes was heavily linked with a move to Al Hilal, a Saudi Arabian league team, which was ready to offer £100 million (about 4.233 billion baht) plus a weekly wage of £700,000 (nearly 30 million baht). However, the deal ultimately fell through because the player wanted to stay and help the team chase titles, expressing frustration that the club's actions felt somewhat disrespectful to him.
Recently, Ian Wright said, "They (Manchester United) handled this quite poorly. They lacked decisiveness. Whenever a club shows interest in Bruno Fernandes, who is a key player, you should shut down any talks or negotiations immediately. But they opened the door themselves, almost telling the player that if he wants to leave, he can. That’s not something a key player should ever hear from his club. If I had the choice, I would bring him to Arsenal right away."
