Liverpool Fans Disappointed by Latest Injury News Despite Win Over Tottenham to Move Up to 5th in Premier League

Liverpool fans are disheartened by the latest bad news concerning their team, despite a victory over Tottenham that moved them up to 5th place in the Premier League.

On 21 Dec 2025 GMT+7, David Ornstein, a Tier 1 journalist from The Athletic, a leading UK media outlet, reported that Liverpool may face troubling news regarding an injury to Alexander Isak, the club's record-signing striker worth £125 million in the English Premier League.

Alexander Isak was injured during a challenge with Mickey van der Ven while scoring Liverpool’s opening goal in the 56th minute. He was unable to continue and was substituted off in the 60th minute, despite having only recently come on as a second-half substitute in the latest Premier League match, an away 2-1 win over Tottenham.

Recently, David Ornstein revealed Isak’s condition via The Athletic, stating: "Liverpool are concerned that forward Alexander Isak may have suffered a serious leg injury in their win against Tottenham Hotspur."

"The Swedish international has yet to undergo an MRI scan which will determine the severity of the injury, but Liverpool are worried about the seriousness of the injury to the lower leg of their striker."

Meanwhile, Physio Scout, a football injury specialist social media source, elaborated on X (formerly Twitter): "Injury update: Alexander Isak had to leave the field in Liverpool's match against Tottenham due to a leg injury."

"The injury mechanism involving a scissor-type clamp tackle often raises concerns about high/medial ankle sprains, which can result from severe twisting and rolling of the ankle."

"The fibula (lower shin bone) is another common site for injuries from direct impact. Such a tackle can also place stress on knee structures due to outward twisting, especially the MCL and ACL ligaments, though these are less likely."

"Estimated recovery times: For a severe ankle sprain: 8-10 weeks. For a medial ankle sprain: 2-6 weeks. For an MCL ligament injury: depending on severity, recovery can range from 2 to 12 weeks."
