Ruben Amorim, Manchester United's manager, has made a decision! Bruno is injured and likely to be out for one month. He insists he does not want to repeat the same mistakes.
On 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Ruben Amorim emphasized that Manchester United will not make the "mistake" of rushing to find a replacement for injured captain Bruno Fernandes during the January transfer window.
Bruno suffered a posterior knee ligament injury in the match where Manchester United lost 1-2 to Aston Villa. He played through the first half but was substituted at halftime. The Telegraph reported he could be sidelined for about one month, risking missing several key league and FA Cup games.
Bruno Fernandes' injury might prompt calls for Manchester United to invest in new players in January. However, Amorim stressed, "We must handle this carefully. What we cannot do is wait until January and then rush everything, causing mistakes and repeating the same old problems."
"I will not go to (Football Director) Jason Wilcox and (Chief Executive) Omar Berrada and say, ‘We need many players,’ because we already have a plan."
"Although this will be painful, the club comes first. Certainly, we need points now, but we have to find a solution and will continue following our plan. You might feel we are facing difficulties now, but time will tell."
