Revealed: Dutch coach Arne Slot's comments to Mickey van de Ven after his tackle seriously injured Alexander Isak, likely causing him to miss several months for Liverpool.
On 24 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Arne Slot, the Dutch manager of Liverpool, the Premier League giants, spoke about Mickey van de Ven, the defender from Tottenham Hotspur, following his tackle on the expensive Swedish striker Alexander Isak that caused a serious injury, threatening a long-term absence.
The Anfield club reported that Alexander Isak, valued at £125 million (approximately 5.254 billion baht), suffered a broken fibula and underwent ankle surgery. The medical team decided to operate immediately. The surgery was successful, but the player will enter a lengthy rehabilitation process with no definite return date, expected to take several months.
Recently, Arne Slot stated, “He (Alexander Isak) will probably need to rest for 2-3 months. This is very disappointing for both him and us. Mickey van de Ven’s tackle was very poor. If he challenges like that ten times, the opposing player would be seriously injured every time. This is a tough time for Alexander Isak. He had just joined late in the transfer window and wanted to prove his potential, but it hasn’t gone that way yet. We know he will need time.”
