Manchester United is set to overhaul Old Trafford's drainage system to address the persistent problem of rainwater dripping from the roof.
On 24 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the longstanding problem continues as Manchester United, known as the Red Devils and managed by Portuguese coach Rúben Amorim, prepares to revamp the drainage system at their home ground, Old Trafford, to fix the issue of rainwater falling from the roof.
Over recent seasons, the Red Devils have often been mocked with memes comparing the stadium to a waterfall or sea due to the inadequate drainage system causing roof water to spill onto fans below, leading to heavy criticism of the Glazer family for not investing in stadium improvements.
Besides water spilling from the roof onto the pitch, there have been reports of water leaking from the ceiling into the interview room while Rúben Amorim was addressing reporters, prompting the club to prepare upgrades to the drainage system to fully resolve these issues, along with plans to refurbish the playing surface.
