Eddie Howe, manager of Newcastle United, spoke out after his team’s recent away defeat to Manchester United in the latest Premier League match.
Eddie Howe, manager of the "Magpies" Newcastle United, expressed deep regret that his team controlled the entire second half but failed to score, ultimately losing 0-1 away to Manchester United in the English Premier League last night. He pointed out that if they had equalized, they might have even won the match.
Howe said, “I feel we deserved to get something from the game, but we only have ourselves to blame. It was a frustrating match. We had chances but didn’t convert them, and I’m disappointed with our first-half performance.”
“We played much better in the second half. I think we dominated the game completely, both in terms of ball possession and scoring opportunities, but we couldn’t find the net. If we had equalized, we might have gone on to win.”
“I take full responsibility, and of course I also look at the players. I believe today’s performance was good. I’m not standing here saying ‘we played terribly.’”
“If we had won, everyone would say ‘this was an excellent performance.’ But obviously we didn’t, so criticism is inevitable. We need to do more to secure a win today.”
As a result of this defeat, Newcastle remains on 23 points, holding 11th place in the league table.
