Who Says Its Over? Revealing Why Liverpool Still Has a Chance for Semenyo Despite His Imminent Move to Man City

Who says it's over? Revealing why Liverpool still has a chance to sign Semenyo despite his impending transfer to Manchester City.

On 29 Dec 2025 GMT+7, BBC Sport, a leading UK sports media outlet, reported that Liverpool still has a chance to sign Antoine Semenyo, the sharp striker from Premier League club Bournemouth.

Last week, reports indicated Antoine Semenyo is highly likely to join Manchester City after negotiations between the player's agent and the club advanced, with further talks expected within two days.

However, BBC recently revealed that reliable sources confirm Liverpool remains interested in Antoine Semenyo following Alexander Isak’s injury, which will sideline him for about 2-3 months, with the winter transfer window opening on 1 January.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth still hopes Liverpool will become seriously interested in Antoine Semenyo. If that happens, it would mark a major turnaround in securing the Ghanaian international striker, keeping his future open until a contract is signed.

Liverpool is one of five clubs to inquire about Antoine Semenyo, alongside Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea. Currently, however, only the "Citizens" have officially contacted Bournemouth.

Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director, has close ties with Bournemouth and previously brought Antoine Semenyo from Bristol City in 2023, giving the "Reds" a chance to outbid Manchester City.

Antoine Semenyo wants his future resolved as soon as possible, before 10 January, the date when his £65 million release clause expires.
