A win-win situation for both clubs as Manchester United cleverly negotiates with Roma a player swap deal involving “Sergi” in exchange for a center-back to strengthen their defense.
On 29 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reports emerged that Roma officially submitted an offer to Manchester United to consider loaning Dutch striker Joshua Sergi, with an option to buy permanently after the season.
Joshua Sergi has already agreed on personal terms with Roma. The decision now depends on whether Manchester United will agree to release the player.
Recently, AS Roma Live reported that Manchester United is negotiating with Roma, a club from Serie A, about the possibility of a player swap deal between Sergi and Roma’s center-back Evan Ndicka.
It is believed that Sergi might move to Roma on loan during the winter transfer window. If his performance meets expectations, Roma could make the transfer permanent next summer, allowing Manchester United to pursue Ndicka to strengthen their defense.
Sergi wants to transfer because he seeks regular playing time to boost his chances of making the Netherlands national team for the 2026 World Cup finals next year.
