"Amorim" reveals three reasons why "Man Utd" failed to beat Wolves, missing their chance to move up to 4th place in the Premier League.
On 31 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Ruben Amorim, Manchester United's head coach, spoke after the 19th match of the 2025-26 English Premier League season, marking the year's final game. United managed only a 1-1 home draw against Wolverhampton, the league's bottom-ranked team.
In the match, Manchester United took the lead 1-0 through Joshua Serge in the 27th minute, but Wolverhampton equalized at 1-1 in the 45th minute via Ladislav Krejci. Neither side scored in the second half, leaving the "Red Devils" in 6th place with 30 points, while the "Wolves" remain with 3 points at the bottom, continuing their winless streak.
Ruben Amorim shared three reasons why Manchester United couldn’t defeat Wolverhampton: "This game was very strange. We knew it would be different from Newcastle. We needed more imagination to create chances. We struggled in the first half to win the ball back. They defended tightly in midfield. We tried, but the quality wasn’t good enough. We have to recover for the next game."
Regarding missing players due to injury or national team duties totaling eight players, he said: "We don't use any excuses. We tried using two strikers, but then conceded from a set piece. Today just wasn’t our day."
On conceding just before halftime, Amorim stated: "We must fix that because it’s not the first time. The game lacked fluidity. We tried to overload one side with players, but in the Premier League, you need one-on-one play, and we needed that today—but we couldn’t deliver."
"We lack wingers. We tried to focus our attack through the middle, but today wasn’t our day. Even in the Everton game, we lost 3 points (0-1 loss), and against West Ham, we dropped 2 points (1-1 draw). It’s always frustrating. That’s football. If you look at the form, we played poorly today."
