Spanish Media Reveal! Liverpool Player Offered Himself to Real Madrid but Was Immediately Rejected

A major Spanish media outlet reported that Mohamed Salah's agent offered the Liverpool star to Real Madrid for a half-season loan but was rejected due to his high wages.

On 3 Jan 2025 GMT+7, Real Madrid was again linked with a global superstar in the January transfer window. However, this move appeared to end quickly after the offer did not align with the club's team-building strategy.

According to Defensa Central, Mohamed Salah's agent proposed the Egyptian international to Real Madrid, sparking internal discussions at the club. Nevertheless, the outcome did not meet many expectations.

Though Salah's quality and experience are unquestioned, the main issue was financial. The loan deal from January to June was valued at around 12 million euros, which Madrid considered too expensive for just six months of use.

Salah's situation at Anfield remains closely watched after tensions with Jürgen Klopp once led to him being dropped. Although relations have improved, uncertainty over his role has reignited transfer rumors.

Real Madrid seriously considered Salah following injury news about Kylian Mbappé, viewing the Egyptian forward as a temporary option to fill the attacking gap. Meanwhile, the player's agent also approached several top European clubs, including Roma.

Although Salah's contract with Liverpool runs until 2027, reports say the club is exploring separation options. A permanent sale in January seemed difficult, making a loan a "more feasible" alternative.

However, from Real Madrid's perspective, a net cost of about 6 million euros for a short-term deal did not fit the club's winter transfer policy, leading to the official rejection of the deal and the club continuing with its original plans.
