Manchester United has moved swiftly following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, revealing the reasons and appointing a replacement immediately.

On 5 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Manchester United, the renowned Premier League club, officially announced the decision to dismiss 40-year-old Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim from his role as head coach.

Manchester United's statement said, "Ruben Amorim has departed from his position as head coach of Manchester United. He was appointed in November 2024 and led the team to the UEFA Europa League final in Bilbao in May."

"Since Manchester United currently sits sixth in the Premier League, the club's management has reluctantly decided that it is time for a change to give the team the best possible chance of finishing as high as possible in the league."
